Colossians Chapter 1
Study Two: Lesson Two -- "Spreading the Gospel!"
Verse 1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,
Verse 2 To the holy and faithful brothers in Christ at Colosse: Grace and peace to you from God our Father.
Verse 3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,
********
Verse 4 because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints--
Verse 5 the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel
Verse 6 that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth.
Verse 7 You learned it from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf,
Verse 8 and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.

Study Two: “What Have You Heard?”
Colossians 1:4-8
Paul reminds his friends about their roots – what they have been taught about Christ. What have you heard about the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Did you read about it, hear it in church, or see it in action? Where can we find it in today’s world? On MTV? On Myspace or Youtube? In the halls of Congress or the White House? Where do we learn of the importance of faith in God?
Lesson Two: Spreading the Gospel!
"All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth."
Colossians 1:6
In this passage, Paul is describing the Gospel --the Good News about Jesus Christ--that was rapidly spreading within the Roman Empire, some thirty years after Christ walked the earth.
Some have called it "The Greatest Story Ever Told", but it is much more. It is a feeling in our hearts, not our head, that God so loved the world that He sent his Son!
How often do you spread the Gospel? Do you tell others of Christ and the miracles He has performed in your own life?
Assignment: Somebody you know needs to hear about Christ! Somebody needs to be comforted by the peace that only Christ can bring. It may be someone you would least expect. Who is it?
Share God's love...pray for the right words. Spread the Gospel!
