Colossians Chapter 1
Study Five: Lesson Two -- "The Kingdom of Light"
Lesson Two: "The Kingdom of Light" v.12
Light symbolizes
- holiness (Mt 5:14; 6:23; Ac 26:18; 1Jn 1:5),
- truth (Ps 36:9; 119:105,130; 2Co 4:6),
- love (Jas 1:17; 1Jn 2:9-10),
- glory (Isa 60:1-3; 1Ti 6:16)
The "kingdom of light" is the opposite of the "dominion of darkness" (v. 13).

Assignment: Find each of the above Scriptures and write them. (Writing helps commit words to memory.)
Advanced: Find and list additional Scriptural references with "light" as a symbol. What does each represent.
Think about: Think of the last stranger you interfaced and interacted with. Would that stranger describe you as a "person of light" or a "person of darkness?"

Study Five: “Rescued from Darkness”
Verse 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.
Verse 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,
Verse 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1:12-14
Just like the Colossians, we are prone to forget Christ’s sacrifice for us. This chapter examines the light of Christ, versus the darkness of the world (and how the darkness is presented to us on a daily basis).

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will."
