TAMAR (Heb. tamar, palm tree).
1. The wife of Er, then the levirate wife of Onan, then (by her father-in-law Judah) mother of twin sons, Perez and Zerah (Gen 38; Ruth 4:12; 1 Chron 2:4; Matt 1:3; KJV Thamar).
2. A daughter of David and sister of Absalom, whom her half-brother Amon violated (2 Sam 13:1-33).
3. The daughter of Absalom (14:27).
